Loft Conversion Contractors
Selecting the right firm of loft conversion contractors to work on your project is
exceedingly important and could make the difference between having a great new extension to your property or being
left with a muffed job, headache and regrets at having started the entire project in the first place.
The first rule with choosing your builders is to make sure that make your decision from a number of builders.
Never pick the first builder that comes along and get a loft conversion quote from at least three
contractors. Naturally the thing to bear in mind here is that the most cost-effective quote isn't necessarily the
absolute best. But what factors should you use to select the correct builders for your job?
Forget flashy sales talk and glossy advertisements in the yellow pages the best ad for any business is an
individual advice from prior customers. With the building trade having such a wide-ranging range of corporations
from the great to the nasty word of mouth suggestions are crucial. Many loft conversion companies have agreements with previous clients which will permit them to
basically show you finished conversions.
If a friend or neighbour has had their loft converted ask them about the builder. If they give him a glowing
report then get in contact and ask him to offer you a quote for your project.
Membership of professional bodies, for example the Federation of Master Builders doesn't automatically mean that
building company is beyond reproach and have been had their work vetted. However, it does occasionally provide
reassurance to the shopper in that they do provide insurance policy policies in the event of poor work. Ask the
builder about this.
Membership of the trade organisation 'Constructionline' is a great sign as the building company do need to go
thru a qualification process to be suitable to join, though again don't take this as unqualified explanation that
the firm is perfect.
Don't under guesstimate the importance of your loft conversion contractors carrying the right
liability insurance. Ask to see proof of their insurance.
If their insurance cover isn't valid and there is accident on site, an injury to an affiliate of the general
public or damage to neighbouring home you'll be held at least partially responsible to pay compensation.
